WHY PSYCHOTHERAPY?

All kinds of people, individuals like you and me, are motivated to go into therapy or counseling for a variety of reasons.  Often it's for personal growth and/or to have a better understanding of themselves.  Seeking help is usually motivated by one or more of the following:

Maybe your life isn't as fulfilling or as happy as you thought it would be.
There are problems with:
  • relationships
  • work
  • enjoying your free time

You may be overwhelmed by feelings of:
  • anxiety
  • stress
  • depression
  • anger
  • frustration
  • loneliness
  • panic attacks or severe fears

Too often your decisions aren't in your best interest due to:

  • feeling confused, constantly worried, preoccupied or even disoriented
  • self-defeating or self-destructive behaviors or thought patterns
  • problems around communicating

Family problems are causing tension due to:

  • children's emotional and behavioral problems and conflicts
  • staying in touch with your teenager's world and understanding      their behaviors
  • difficulty with parent-child communication
  • step-family, blended family, alternative family, single parent issues
  • fertility issues, adoption issues

Events in your past have led to:

  • post traumatic stress (PTSD)
  • addictions such as alcohol, drugs, food, gambling, sex, spending and debt
  • domestic violence, physical and emotional abuse

Difficult life issues (both good and bad) may be overwhelming:

  • divorce, loss of employment, death
  • serious illness, coping with a chronic medical condition
  • aging parents, empty nest syndrome
  • birth of a child, marriage, new job
  • sexuality, sexualy identity, sexual orientation
  • moving to a new house, to a new area, to a new country
  •

Psychotherapy can help you resolve these problems.  You can feel better and live a more fulfilling life, the kind of life you want.
